Link your Smaht Edge to Smaht Cloud

Linking is optional. Your Smaht Edge works fully without Smaht Cloud, and keeps working when the internet or Smaht Cloud is down.

  1. On your Smaht Edge, open Admin → Smaht Cloud and choose Link.
  2. It shows a code (like WDJB-MJHT), this website's link page, and a QR code.
  3. Open the link page, sign in (or create an account), check that the code is the same, give your Smaht Edge a name, and choose Link it.
  4. Your Smaht Edge finishes on its own within a few seconds.

Codes work for 15 minutes. If you did not start linking yourself, choose Don't link.

What is sent

  • Your Smaht Edge opens every connection itself (HTTPS and one WebSocket). Nothing on the internet can connect to your home, and no port is opened on your router.
  • It proves who it is with a key pair it makes when you link; the private key never leaves your Smaht Edge.
  • Each kind of data has its own switch on your Smaht Edge. Today there is one: the heartbeat (its version and whether it is healthy, every 15 minutes), which you can switch off.
  • Smaht Cloud never runs anything on your Smaht Edge. Everything it sends is checked against a list of allowed messages.

On your Smaht Edge (Admin → Smaht Cloud → Unlink) or on this website (Your edges → Unlink). Either side ends the link at once; the other side is told.
