What Smaht Edge does
Devices and sensors
- Smaht device agents on Raspberry Pi and similar boards: temperature, digital inputs (motion, door contacts), analog inputs for pressure transducers, relays.
- Microcontroller boards (ESP32, Arduino) over Wi-Fi or a serial cable through a device agent.
- Inputs set up from the web app; every device has its own login, limited to its own messages.
- Finds what is on your network: devices waiting to be connected, systems it can integrate with, smart-home gear.
Control and automation
- Switches, relays and dimmers, with every command recorded and acknowledged; outputs fall back to a safe state when the link is lost.
- Schedules and rules (when this value goes above that, switch this on).
- An optional server for AI assistants (MCP), off by default, limited to the devices you choose.
Integrations
- Home Assistant in both directions, UniFi presence, Pi-hole control, IFTTT, and a local API for your own scripts.
Looking after itself
- Its own certificate authority and HTTPS, a name on your network, and signed updates you install from the web app.
- Users with roles, two-step sign-in, an activity log of who did what.
- An inventory of parts and where they are stored.
With Smaht Cloud
- An account with two-step sign-in, or sign in with Google, Microsoft, Apple or GitHub.
- Your linked Smaht Edges in one place: version, health, last heard from; rename or unlink them.
